To help you shop with us at The Fabric Townhouse, we have created our very own Shopping Guide. The Shopping Guide is full of loads of useful information such as how to order the correct amount of fabric, how to use your e-gift cards, and much more!
Fabric Size Guide
As the image shows, we cut our fabrics by the fat quarter, half metre, 3/4 metre and full metre.
This approximately equates to:
Fat quarter = 50cm (19") length x half width of fabric
Half metre = 50cm (19") length x width of fabric
3/4 Metre = 75cm (29") length x width of fabric
Full metre = 100cm (39") length x width of fabric
Once you have found a fabric you like, you'll see on the page there is a box called 'Quantity'. You can either type directly into this box, or use the up and down arrows as appropriate.
You can decide how much you would like to buy using the Quantity box. If you'd like 1 fat quarter leave the Quantity box with ‘1’. If you would like half metre type '2' into the box (or use the Up Arrow to increase the quantity). If you would like 3/4 metre type '3' into the box, and so on.

Discount Codes & e-Gift Card
If you have a discount code or a e-gift card you can apply it on the Checkout page. On the basket page above the sub total box, there is a box that says 'Discount Code'. Put your discount code/e-gift voucher in the box and click 'Apply' and your Total will change accordingly. Click 'Continue to delivery' to finalise your order.
Pre-Orders
Fabrics on our Pre-Order page are fabrics you can order before they are in stock. Once the fabric arrives we will immediately process your order and get your fabric sent out to you.
Orders that include both pre-orders and items in stock will be held back until the pre-order items have arrived. If you would like to receive the in stock fabric beforehand, please place a separate order.
Each fabric has an estimated date of arrival. These are dates that the fabric manufacturers have given to us but they are not set in stone; there may be circumstances that are out of our control that may delay the delivery of stock.
Postage
We work hard to post orders out as quickly as possible, this is normally within 1 working day.
UK - At this moment we only ship within the UK. If you'd like International Shipping, please visit our Etsy shop.
We are pleased to offer free shipping on all UK orders over £50.00. Orders under £50 have a flat rate shipping fee of £3.00. If you need your fabric in a hurry (we've all been there!), you can upgrade to express delivery for £3.50 where we will post your parcel 1st class.
If you place a very large, high value order we may need to use a courier and the courier will provide you with a tracking number.
Missing Parcels
Unfortunately on rare occasions parcels can get lost or delayed in the post. We cannot class a parcel as missing until it has passed 10 working days after the date it was due to be delivered, as set out by Royal Mail.
(Royal Mail do not count weekends or bank holidays as working days even though they deliver on a Saturday.)
If your parcel hasn't arrived by these dates please contact us and we will be able to sort out a refund or exchange for you.
Payment
Once you have clicked ‘Check Out’ log in to your account. If you don’t have an account you can create one or you can check out as a guest instead. Select 'Credit/Debit Card'. Once you have entered your details click on 'Place Order'. Payments will be processed securely through our website.
Alternatively, you can select 'PayPal' and click on 'Continue With PayPal'. Log in to your PayPal account and follow the instructions to complete your order.
If you do not have an account with PayPal you are able to create a temporary account with them for the transaction. After the transaction is complete there is the option to save your details to make future transactions faster and easier for yourself.
Photo Colour Accuracy
We use a combination of stock images (from the designer/manufacturer) and our own photos to show our fabrics in as many different ways as possible. All parties have tried their best to represent the colours as accurately as possible, however, we can't guarantee an exact match as colours can vary depending on your screen display settings, and therefore fabrics may look different upon arrival. We are pleased to offer a sample service.
Washing & Shrinkage
Some of the fabrics we sell have been pre-washed but we recommend washing your fabric on a cool wash before using it. Fabrics can shrink by up to 5% when washed and bright or bold colours may run when first washed so we recommend washing with similar colours.
Returns
We know that buying fabric online is a challenge and sometimes it's just not quite right. So we are pleased to offer a returns service, providing that the fabric has been unwashed and uncut.
It is worth noting that once fabric is cut from the bolt it's considered a personalised order, so is exempt from returns policy, but we like to go above and beyond!
Please contact us if you have any problems with your order before sending any fabrics back. If 14 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund.
Please note that unless your order is damaged or defective, you are responsible for postage costs. Please make sure you get a proof of postage for your records.
